What is Starlink?

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation that SpaceX constructs and provides high speed and low latency internet.

The constellation consists of mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit.

SpaceX has launched thousands of Starlink satellites. In total, they are planning to deploy nearly 12,000 satellites that may extend to 42,000 satellites. The project's cost that includes designing, building, and deploying the constellation, was estimated by SpaceX to be at least ten billion$ in May 2018.

Starlink satellites are over 60 times closer to Earth than traditional satellites, resulting in lower latency and the ability to support services typically impossible with regular satellite internet.

It's now delivering its initial beta service both domestically and internationally and will continue to expand its global coverage at the end of 2021.
